ElijahWhile studying at the Otis Parsons School of Design, KerynDizon was fortunate to have the opportunity to work with GustaveTassell of the House of Norell and Galanos. It was during this time under Tassell’s tutelage that Keryn found herself as a designer. In her words, “Mr. Tassel’s approach to design validated and affirmed a lot of the design philosophies I believed in,” resulting in simple, sophisticated elegance, modern chic, and practical luxury. With Keryn’s affinity for volume and impeccable construction, it is no surprise to learn of the close friendship between Keryn’s grandmother, the late Elaine Miller, and Cristobal Balenciaga. The influence of the chic Elaine Miller and the immaculate Cristobal Balenciaga is evident in all of Keryn’s work. It seems bringing sophisticated, modern elegance to a younger generation of chic women was fated. Elijah was born from a desire for refined yet functional clothing. Keryn, who has been designing clothing for over ten years, was able to embrace her passion for the craft of making clothes, while fulfilling a need in her own wardrobe for unfussy luxury. As a New Yorker and a busy mother of two, she understands the rigors that a modern woman’s wardrobe endures. Elijah blends chic elegance with ease and practicality. Always conscious of the contours of a woman’s body and the sculptural aspect of her textiles, Keryn drapes each design. The three dimensional artistry of each garment in the Elijah collection evolves from Keryn’s interactions with her materials. Each season of Elijah is a well-edited collection of jersey blouses and dresses, each one intricately draped, meticulously sewn, and constructed of the finest Swiss mercerized cotton. Inspired by evening wear of yesteryear and today’s woman, it is a seamless marriage of timeworn elegance and modern ease. Elijah exudes chic sensuality, a sense of history, and a return to the craft of making clothes. |
